Elwyn Hall from the 80s.

His stand up skills were good. Give him about 2 years of BJJ and I'd love to see him fight Anderson Silva.

I think Karate style kicks aren't used as much in mma as I think they should be. I've seen several fighters in mma who I thought could have benefited from Karate and Tae Kwon Do style kicks. These kicks can help fighters to maintain some distance while also scoring points against certain fighters.

If you're dealing with a fighter who's very effective in boxing range I'd recommend staying out of that range some by using Karate kicks. You can score points with effective kicks and maintain some distance with those kicks.

Elywn Hall is a Shotokan stylist.

I found a video of some Goju Ryu people. Looks like an effective style of Karate. Even has some grappling techniques.

I had posted a video of mma fighters who had backgrounds in Tae Kwon do/Karate.

Check this out. Lyoto Machida and his brother talk about how their mma experience shapes how they now teach Karate.

I wonder if those footsweeps can be used on an attacker taking a deep step in for a strike.
