A while back, I watched Chris Harden(formerly Nostalgia Tours) video tour driving around Clinton. I can see why that town is struggling, since to me it didn't jump out much to me. Interesting fact: Clinton swallowed a nearby community called Lyons, when it was annexing land to expand in the late 19th century/early 20th century.

Folks will drive to the QCA, Iowa city, Cedar Rapids, and Des Moines for sports/ concerts/festivals etc.. But I can't name one thing, or even any businesses, that would be a reason to go to Clinton

I don't mean that as a dig on Clinton. It's just a kind of an 'out of sight, out of mind' type of town.

Clinton has the ability to appeal to people as a spot to visit. I didn't really know it until I was driving around in the summer of 2020 and I noticed it was an easy chance to hit the river from the Chicagoland area. I parked, walked around, and found it to be interesting to enough to add to my to-do list.

Amenities:
-Bickelhaupt Arboretum
-Catholic Historical Center at St. Boniface
-Clinton County Museum
-Clinton Public Library-on Natl. Register of Historic Places
-Clinton Sawmill Museum
-Curtis Mansion free
-Eagle Point Park [stone bridge, tower]
-River Arts Center
-Showboat Theatre [summer theatre]
-Wild River Winery
-Wild Rose Casino

I can think of other people who might want a river town getaway that is not the mold of a Dollar General, a bar, and little else.
