Yeah, that's what I usually see on the computer when I'm logged in to my Google/YouTube account. Just a black screen, which I then have to click on and the video starts playing ad free. But once in a while and ad starts playing anyway. I don't know why. And sometimes, about once a day I get the pop-up telling me that the player is blocked and that I need to disable my ad blocker. Generally in either case I find it's best to immediately restart my browser which dumps my cookies. Then I can re-login and every thing is back to normal.

This is what it looks like when YouTube blocks me. Opening the video in a private window, works less than great. It a PITA and sometimes the YouTube ads get through into the private window. So I find it's best to just restart the browser.

I use the Brave browser. I never see ads on any website.

I'm torn about that on YouTube, though. I don't want to give Google any more money, but I want the content creators to profit from their videos. So, I reluctantly watch the ads on YouTube. I've just cut my YouTube use to the bare minimum.

Brave is amazing. But you are probably not helping content creators by cutting down your YouTube use.

I had to, though. I was spending so much time watching "everyone" that it was getting too overwhelming. So, I cut the list of people I watch back by quite a bit, down to three or four people, making sure to watch ads for those people, and leave YouTube before I start endlessly scrolling, which is way too easy to do. Google's making less money off of me, but the people I like the most are still getting a little something from me.

You'd hate to see my subscription list

But I have YouTube TV so I pay to have the ads go away, except the ones that the YouTubers sneak in midway during their video.

I have pointed out, in the past, there are other support models for content creators.

YouTube TV is one of them.
Gab is another, as are Patreon and Scribestar.
And SubStack.

My subscription list is over 900. I watch about 30 of them daily.

YouTubeTV doesn't make ads go away...

The issue with YoutubeTV is that you have to be signed with a large network like NBC, FOX, Comedy Central, Food Network, etc. These networks don't normally give airtime to individual content creators.

I enjoy YouTubeTV myself, but I don't see it as a support model for content creators.

Thank you for clarifying that.

I just watch the ads (or passively ignore them) and silently wish we could find another way.
(I have expounded on what I think would be ideal, in past threads.)
