I'm not from Muncie, but my husband is and he would agree. He has inherited some properties there which he co-owns with his brother. His brother is retired and actually left San Francisco to live back in Muncie, and other than cold winters seems quite content. There is enough of anything he needs, and decent medical care as well. Ball State being there really adds a lot that this town would not otherwise have. It is ridiculously affordable, too.

I was in Muncie last week for the 1st time since 2006 and Muncie has changed alot since then. I wouldn't have recognized the town if I hadn't already known that's where I was. It's done a complete 180 and tuned into a really nice, well-kept, clean looking town. Lots of the old and run-down house blights are gone so the town doesn't look like the depressing dump of a town that it did 15 or 20 years ago. Ball State has it's foot print all over Muncie, instead of just the campus, such as the patch of pretty Cardinal red and white flowers on Wheeling Avenue near the fairgrounds. Downtown Muncie is somewhat of an entertainment district of upscale restraunts, hotels and bars, with lanes for vehicles to to pull over and park or let people out. An Uber driver's dream. Murals are all around town, making it a nice town to drive around in. The Cardinal Grennway and the trails along White River are very nice to walk on. Ball Hospital is one of the biggest medical complexes I've ever seen. Last time I was Muncie there was maybe 2 buildings. Now the complex seems to stretch all the way to Tillotson Avenue. One of Muncie's biggest challenges is overcoming it's bad reputation.
