Do you ever have people over and entertain? If not, you don't really have to concern yourself with "interior design." Do whatever you want in the space!

Then there are those of us who can multi-task and watch television while reading a book (from the library, btw) and eating at the same time.

If the TV is being used for whatever reason then get it. It will take up less space than the morning paper. Some people have them in the garage. My MIL had one in each bathroom with a tub. Please keep the cable salad contained. Inexpensive kits on Amazon.

Do you feel it’s unnecessary to put a small TV in my dining room even tho I already have a large TV in my living room, since I live in a studio apartment?
Of course it's "unnecessary." But since it's just you, so there's no issue of whether it's a good idea with children in the family, go ahead and do whatever you like. It's likely that your dining table is the biggest surface in the studio, so it might also be good to have the TV there if you're working on something spread out on the table.

Another option: can you use your current TV if it was on a cart?
Then you can roll it to wherever you want. Or get a cart for the new one, so its placement is flexible.

I just spit my beer out on 'cable salad'. Dang, I guess I'm busted. Mine is more like 'cable linguine' hanging down. No Sunday gravy included!

Another option for your HDTV (w/HDMI 2.0 input) . . . a MINI PC that can attach to the back of the TV.

https://www.amazon.com/Beelink-Deskt...ZHP/ref=sr_1_3

$179 [] Beelink S12 Pro Mini PC, Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake- N100(up to 3.4GHz), 16GB DDR4 RAM 500GB PCIe SSD, Desktop Computer Support 4K Dual Display/USB3.2/WiFi 6/BT5.2/Gigabit Ethernet for Home/Office
*** it's not a "gaming" computer, but it would be great for playing 4K videos, music files, etc.
It wouldn't matter if your TV's "smart" features went obsolete, when you have a PC connected.
((There are many many variations out there, ranging from 4 core to 6 core to 8 core and more. The sky's the limit.))

CAVEAT - most "new" 4K "budget" HDTVs do not have ATSC 3.0 (4K) tuners. The old ATSC 1.0 are not compatible with the new format. If your local market supports 4K television broadcasts, it might be something to consider.

SiliconDust offers 4K tuners (HDHomeRun) that attach to your LAN, so any TV (or computer) with an ethernet connection can "tune in" 4K ATSC 3.0 OTA.
https://www.amazon.com/SiliconDust-H...9NL/ref=sr_1_2

It turns out that several TV mfgrs are dropping ATSC 3.0 due to problems with DRM encoded streams.

LG announced that its 2024 lineup will no longer support it.

You must not have cats. They teach humans to keep a clean environment.

Ick. No cats for me.

I don't know about your "clean environment" statement. A friend of mine has two cats, and she lets them jump up on the dining table and the counters in her kitchen, even allows them to jump from the fridge across the stove to the top of her cabinets.

Just gross. I refuse to eat her food.
