Didn't see a team thread specifically for Edmonton, so..

Oilers lose game one of their playoff series vs LA.

That said, Draisaitl has been a helluva playoff player & did chip in 2 points in the loss. Looking forward to the rest of this series; Edmonton has had a serious 2022-23 offense.

I dont think they have a number 1 defenseman yet. That has been the formula for cup success for about a decade or more. Two top centerman, and one or two great D man.

yeah.. if Edmonton's defense could've held up for basically 17 more seconds vs. LA's power play.. Edmonton would've won game one.

Not sure if this is a completely fair comparison; but these Edmonton Oilers are similar to the ol' 80s Houston Oilers. Houston had an incredible offense, but not a complimentary defense, so they were always short of a championship

Drai has proven himself to be a true beast in the playoffs. Remember how he played injured (broken bones?) last year? Dude is a beast.

There was an interesting stat shown last night during game 2 vs. LA.. Three of the top five all-time highest playoff points-per-game averages belong to Oilers. Gretzky, Draisaitl, McDavid (in that order).

If the Oilers had any competent goalie at all, the Oilers would be one of the SC favorites, or at least the overwhelming favorite to make it out of the West. Like if you put Hellybruk or even Fleury or Jonathan Quick on the Oilers with McDavid & Draisaitl they are the clear favorites to come out of the West and really it wouldn't be close. I may even put them on even odds with the Bruins.

At least they won the last game, and now series tied 2-2.

But yeh, that goalie needed more saves. Oilers big guns saved that game.

This is similar to the US national Junior team. They are loaded everywhere but cannot beat Canada because they just dont have the goaltending.

Honestly in game 5, it almost felt like there were no goalies in the nets.. 9 combined goals, and scoring looked relatively easy for Edmonton.

Draisaitl.
Yeah.. Draisaitl had 4 goals and it still wasn't enough to win game one in Vegas.
Four goals in a road playoff game, that's pretty sick.

Oilers offense goes off in game 2 vs. Vegas.. Five goals, and they got the goalie support (Vegas got one goal in 31 shots).
Series even, 1-1.
