What's a good entry-level pair of binoculars, new or used?

First figure out what you will be using them for. I got mine in Germany where we hunt deer from a high seat. So a big heavy pair of 40 mm German hunting binoculars were great. But I would not carry them around if I was out in a field, for that a nice small pair of light binoculars are the thing. A good hint if you are hunting, have the power of the binoculars set the same as your scope. That way when you see something in the binoculars you have a "size" in mind when you look thru your rifle scope as it will be the same size.
