I think the only way that anyone will change their mind(s) is when it hits them as an inconvenience, or an inability to get something (like access to water), or when it hits them in their bank account. I have a relative who is extremely conservative and they are starting to realize that climate change is real. Why? They live in an area where water and access to it is rapidly becoming a huge issue. That may not do it for some people, but it did for my relative. I just listen. I don't preach and I don't give my opinion anymore. I don't like being told to "sit down" when I express my opinion. Nobody does.
