stay where you are. Even if you find a state that is a good place for section 8 living, there is often a wait list. some landlords will not take them, some that do have run down properties, so unless you have a reason to relocate stay put.
I live in Louisiana and I'm trying to move to a better state that offers better jobs, education, and less crime for me and my kids and I'm on section 8 does anyone have any ideas?
I just am curious why you are looking to move out of Atlanta. I am in the same situation; I want to move out of Maryland to Atlanta. What should I know about Atlanta. Is it difficult to find a decent job there? I have been looking for work here for about two years. So I'm trying to find a good neighborhood in another state, but where the job market is better. Thanks.
You would think it would be the state that had the most liberals.
Not necessarily. Section 8 is funded with federal money, so we're all on the same playing field. So, the best place would have a lot properties that accept Section 8 (nowhere too nice), where Section 8 would cover the rent (nowhere too expensive), and there's not a lot of competition. With that in mind, my gut says the OP would have the best luck in the Dakotas or the Northern Rockies.
In Minnesota they do take section 8 but in the twin cities the waiting lists are like 7 year waiting lists. I am not sure about other areas of the state. Cost of living is high here but you can't beat the quality of living.
Colorado is very good for section 8. but the city Denver, is very over rated, but if you chose Denver, for your county Green Valley Ranch you can get a mini Mansion crib for dirty cheap... Plus the weather here is awesome.
