Idiot salesperson said "no". Had I bought the ring and wore it right away for a few hours, I would have had an allergic reaction. Then she tried to sell me one of those items (I forget the exact name) that I could put on my ring to keep it from falling off. So, once again, I asked if it was 14k. She said "no".

I hadn't thought about looking into getting it resized. That's a good suggestion. Also, I'll now try it to see if it fits on my middle finger. Thank you for that suggestion!

Sure thing! So many people don't know how to do anything right anymore.

My mother gave me her wedding ring, platinum and diamonds, when I was 25, I always loved it and have worn it ever since.

My own wedding ring is a plain platinum band, worn closest to my heart, then my mother's.

On my right ring finger I wear my grandmother's 50th anniversary ring, a one carrot diamond in a gold filagree setting.

Neither ever are removed. My mother's hand was smaller than mine so it will no longer come off.
My grandmother's hand was larger and the ring spins around on my finger, but it still never comes off.

Too afraid to lose it.

Early 60s male. I've outgrown (gotten fat ) the most recent band, but when I could wear it, I never took it off. Now I wear a bigger man's ring I've had for years on that hand because I can't wear it on my right hand (see above).

Never while at home, and always when I go out. I do take it off when using the restroom though. I getting water/soap under it while washing my hands.

Default When/where to wear/not wear wedding ring?

At the tender young age of 49 I am finally married for the first time. I am wondering when I am expected to wear my wedding ring. Not that I'm trying to not wear it or hide that I am married, but, well...

I have been taking it off when I get home for the day and ready to settle in (i.e. not going out anywhere else). I have never worn jewelry before, but I feel if I did I wouldn't wear it around the house, same as how you take your shoes off when you come in or change into comfortable clothes. Do others wear it around the house?

Do you sleep with it on? Shower?

What about going to the gym to work out? Or doing any kind of physical labor where it could get damaged?

What is the etiquette here?

It's up to you

When to Remove the Wedding Ring
There are situations where it’s appropriate to remove the wedding ring to prevent injury, damage, or infection. During physical activities such as sports or working out, removing the ring can protect your finger and the ring. Similarly, during medical procedures, removing the ring is necessary to prevent the risk of infection. When working with machinery, it’s advisable to remove the ring to prevent it from getting caught and causing injury.

I'd be afraid to lose it unless there's a specific place it goes every time it's removed.

I got married at 45. Never wore any sort of jewelry.
Generally speaking, I never take mine off. I probably should when I am working on the car, but I never do.

My feeling: If you keep taking it off and putting it back on, it greatly increases the chances of losing it.

except for a few early years, neither of us wore rings. Occupations made rings dangerous. Habit for not wearing rings prevailed. We know and nobody else needs to know our relationship,... it is and was obvious. 50 years together.

Just one more day.

I never took off my wedding band or engagement ring, with the exception of others wanting to try it on, or painting or something like that.
