Really sad to see that this happened. I spent several years doing field work in central and northern Alaska, and flew in helicopters along the coastal plain.

They haven't listed names yet but a simple look through the DGGS website shows the names of the staff who were doing a hydrologic study in the area for a proposed corridor.

Note to world: field work in Alaska is not for the faint-of-heart.

The Anchorage Daily News reported the names of the four victims.

What is bizarre to me is that the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner still hasn't carried any news on this horrific accident which claimed the lives of three Fairbanks residents and one from North Pole.

It is now. They do not have the reporters to keep up. Newspapers are going to go away soon I fear.
