According the the NOAA Weather Service, the temperature is supposed to drop to the low -44 degrees F. in the low areas around Fairbanks, and much colder than that by the Tanana Flats:

I remember a year when -40 to -65 degrees was common in the late '80s and early '90s, so I guess that -44 is a lot warmer

I did my prep work! Fueled-up and did my grocery shopping after work tonight so that I can start cooking & meal prepping Saturday morning without having to leave the nest

I have Raynaud's so I don't get too crazy when it's cold unless there's something super fun going on, like the YQ or solstice or something

That's why I live in the south. It was a balmy -8F at my house in Anchorage this morning. I suspect we will bottom out at -15 or so tonight.

Quit bragging or you're going to get a bunch of unwelcome company lol! It felt like it was a hundred-and-ridiculous below this morning

Definitely grateful for my cushy office job on days like this.

Further south in Juneau it's forecast to be in the 20's and 30's, with yet more snow. Early winter this season.

A good time to be in Hawaii IMO, so I am!

Yes it certainly has been. Its been down near zero or single digits at night in Homer (down below me near sea level) for almost 3 weeks so far. Apparently the offshore water temps are a little lower than they usually are this early. It only takes a couple of degrees. The usual N Pacific storms that would arrive as rain dumped snow instead. Snow, snow, snow that hasn't melted and refrozen into the the usual ice-encrusted mess. Local friends have gotten more than 48" of the white stuff and are getting tired of clearing off their high tunnels, eaves, sheds and boats. At least shoveling the dry type is easier on backs. A lot of mine is wind driven, so while it may not pile as deep, it drifts... conveniently blocking every door whenever possible. The next storm due is supposed to be warm and wet. Hope it doesn't thaw everything too fast!

I can't imagine "neg-anything" outside. The coldest I've ever experienced was the "Dairy Room" at CostCo. That was freezing. I got my eggs and got outta there, pronto!

The NOAA update the weather forecast this afternoon. It's supposed to be clear and -36 tonight, Saturday sunny (day) and -23 plus -27 at night. But the best news is that there is a warming trend starting at +8 Sunday (mostly sunny), and +4 at night It's supposed to be much warmer Monday

Much more comfortable to use the snowblower at such warm temperatures than it is around Fairbanks.

I remember when living in Anchorage back in the early '80s that sometimes it got much colder than that, and since it is humid in Anchorage, when the wind blew it felt like it was 30 below.
