It’s unclear if the person actually grabbed it or if the powerline arced while he was on the tower.
He was rushed to hospital, right? I wonder about the internal damages.
High voltages can cause severe burns, damage internal organs, and blood vessels to clot.
Don’t forget he also fell. It doesn’t say how he landed. He most likely suffered a concussion. He would be very lucky if he didn’t suffered a braking bone or two or at least cracking one or a few due to the fall. He was probably unconscious by the time he fell, so didn’t felt the impact.
Over a year ago I lost conscious in a bathroom and the only thing I remember was starting to fall and then waking up on the ground with half of my body in the walk-in shower and the other on the floor. The point is that I never felt any pain nor the impact of the fall, probably due to passing out before the fact. That wasn’t a 40-foot-fall, but I did chipped by two upper frontal teeth. Nothing else broke. Imagine what he went through just with braking bones due to that fall.
Surviving is good in most occassions, but with this one I don’t know if it was better to simply go. Recovering from that will leave lasting effects.

He may only be alive right now because someone who's an EMT saw him fall. If no one saw him fall, he may have eventually been found, deceased.
Why does the article deem it important to mention the voltage at the line? Shock value? (No pun intended.) We all know it's the current that kills, right? What was the current running through there? Probably VERY low if it didn't kill him.
220, 221 whatever it takes (Mr Mom, Michael Keaton)

I don't believe you. I think you intended that pun!
