A bus with 15 passengers on board has fallen from a bridge into the Moika River in Russia’s St. Petersburg city. As a result of the accident, 4 people died and 5 others were hospitalized with injuries - 4 of them in a serious condition. The crash occurred after the driver lost control.
Seven of the passengers on the bus were able to get out in the water by themselves, the rest were helped by rescue workers.
The driver's wife has reportedly stated he had been forced to work a morning shift after doing 20 hours the day before. He has been arrested
HE was arrested?! What about his employer or manager who scheduled him for work that day? Or whoever allowed him to take a bus out after such a long shift the day before?
More info needed.

If you think that is bad, look into emergency services, where EMS crews routinely work 24, 36, or even 48 hours shifts.

I think they get rest periods, no? Like firefighters who remain on call in the station for 3 full days (72 hours), then they get 4 days off. There are bunks/sleeping areas to rest during down time.
I watched the video and it was horrifying how quickly the bus sank. Talk about panic and terror. Someone must have busted through a window or maybe the roof vent so most of them could escape.

Yes buses usually have and this one had (you can see in the video) an escape hatch on the roof.
I recall a situation in England a few years ago where a bus driver just ploughed the bus right into a building. I mean there's so many buses driving around every day all day, it's not that unexpected that there would be the occasional significant accident.
It seems some sort of attack occurred to him while he was driving. There is really nothing that can be done and it can happen anywhere at anytime.
At first, it looked like a suicide attempt to me, but it's possible he fell asleep at the wheel, causing him to cross that entire intersection against traffic. Then he woke up and tried to correct the problem, and ended up over-correcting. I don't think he should be arrested; I think his employer and supervisors should be investigated, and something done to prevent scheduling drivers for long shifts. Maybe the transit authority lacks drivers, or the funds to hire more.
