Projector as a computer monitor?

Been there, too, friend.

Projectors are sh*t unless you're getting into the bigger lasers, and those get up into the thousands.

Disagree. I paid a grand for my theater projector and had my PC hooked up to it for awhile. It's fine. More then fine.

The dinky pieces of garbage you're buying for a couple hundred bucks are good in a pinch or for projecting at hotels.

I've seen some good home theater ones, but I wouldn't be using those as a daily use display screen.

Again, looked perfect on mine, doesn't need to be dark, and it's not even 4K.

I personally don't like sitting on a couch looking at an 8 foot windows screen, but it is certainly more then usable.

I'm using my projector as a monitor. This thing is awesome. I can watch movies/TV on it without my computer. I can play my PC games on it too. You guys are missing out!
