Just buy an external disk drive.

I remember I had a Sony Vaio with a blu ray player on board -- LOL

I don't need extra RAM. Even with old computers I've owned, I usually used a third to half the hard drive storage. I put a lot of docs and photos on thumb drives now to keep them out of the hands of hackers.

I already had an external DVD player and brought it with me when I picked up my computer so the tech could make sure it was compatible.

One bonus I didn't expect was having a lighted keyboard. So much easier to use in low light.

The only thing that isn't as good as my Lenovo is the sound. A bit muted or muffled in comparison. I assume it's the speakers. I don't play music so it's not a concern at this time.

That's not how a computer works. RAM and hard drives are two different parts of a computer. RAM is akin to your counter-top space allocated to do your work. When it fills up, the computer has to do a lot of unnecessary work sending things you are trying to work on back to your hard drive. Consequently it slows down. You never want your counter-top space to fill up. That's why several of us recommended more RAM.

Having said that, (based on your stated usage scenario) you will likely be fine until Windows 12.

8GB is still fine today with Windows 11 unless you're a gamer. Windows is the best it's ever been at managing memory.

Currently running 8gb on Windows 11 on an 8th gen i5 for my job and it works perfectly.

Enjoy your laptop!

That's not it Paul. It's actually a security chip. Windows 11 requires this chip so it can provide a higher level of security that MS is insisting you must have to move to 11. Older computers don't have this chip, called TPM. TPM allows Secure Boot.
