Part of the issue with the identifiability of the local culture is that inside and outside of the Black community, Atlanta has been presented as the "default" Black culture/place. It's damn near a euphemism for Black.

More of the same with the double Threes hand gesture which is the equivalent of saying “on dead dawgs” as opposed to just “on dawgs”.

Top Tens ?

The Adidas Top Ten officially re-released today, but for heads in Boston, it's like the sneaker never left. Adidas and the Top Ten are woven into the fabric of the city's sneaker culture, and they grew up with Boston as hip-hop did, too.

or

On Dawgs?

On dead dawgs
That is how you merch in Boston.

Similar to Foe’nem / I swear to god.

If they put something “on dead dawgs” they are putting it on their dead friends/Dawgs.

If you see a dude in Top Tens and hes throwing double threes he's definitely hood-certified and native to the city- no questions asked. Really, there is no equivalent I can think of in another city that tells me someone is from there to that degree.

I was in Boston last weekend and see there are still younger-ish people rockin top tens and Adidas track suits at Target. The ones you see here are decorated for our winter sports teams, obviously. TBH the Sox and Pats would get one because the original Top Ten colorway covers them.

Da Bulldogs, Roxbury and Boston is what I represent

At first you didn't know us but now it's like, "Yo, put me down"
We didn't get in here so you can get in with us
You wasn't down when we was riding the bus
So put on your Adidas and step off
I got to have it

Just came across a ~190-page encyclopedia of Black History in Boston:

African-Americans in Boston : more than 350 years

A "must" introduction to significant African-American events & people in Massachusetts where so much American history began. The first slaves arrived in Boston in 1638; the first Black gave his life in the Boston Massacre. Entries are dramatic bullet-style cameos set off by more than 100 photographs. Arranged chronologically within a dozen categories--Science, Religion, Government, Creative Arts, among them--the elegantly designed paperback offers instant identification of names & invites follow up research--a catalyst "to find out more."
