Happy Friday! Been a couple of years.

I started re-thinking about a potential move, now that my youngest is 16.

Both towns are great for their sense of community, their amount of festivals, the great restaurants, etc.

I wonder if Libertyville gets the upper hand, due to being more of a middle ground between my Milwaukee connections with Chicago, where I love to spend time.

Hmm?.......

Why not Waukegan/North Chicago? Or even Racine/Kenosha?

Kraftask, good morning, my friend.

I feel like if I'm going to stay in Wisconsin, then I might as well stay in Milwaukee (even though I agree Kenosha would be closer to the halfway point)

It's just that Libertyville and Highwood are such favorite towns of mine.

If i ever came into a substantial sum, & could afford Lake county. I would probably choose Antioch. It's almost like a mini Galena surrounded by lakes. Lake county has a lot of NIMBY's that price your average folks out of the market. I guess your rich folk don't want Lake county turning into another Milwaukee county lol

Aren’t Illinois property taxes higher than Wisconsin? Personally I like Milwaukee much better than any of the Illinois cities you mentioned. Plus I would want to wait until my kids graduated from high school. We had to move during my kid’s high school years for jobs and it was really hard on them. I’m from Kenosha and go back frequently to visit and there’s not much to do there. Everyone drives to Milwaukee or Chicago for fun.

Teacher Terry, you raise good points.

Lake County property taxes are higher, I believe than both Cook County AND southeastern Wisconsin.

Please let me know what you like about Milwaukee OVER Libertyville & Highwood??

And I would not move until my kids all finished high school as well, if I do decide to move.

Master Jay, mainly I think the people in Milwaukee are much nicer and kinder than people in Illinois. I find that people in Illinois seem to have a big city attitude and tend to be rushed and rude. My sister lives in a nice suburb of Chicago. I also find Milwaukee more attractive.

Teacher Terry, very interesting perspective!

I really can not recall having bad experiences with attitudes of people in Illinois. And that goes from polar opposite socioeconomic parts of the city AND suburbs.

Although Chicago is much bigger than Milwaukee, they have a similar look, I feel, with the various neighborhoods

Master Jay, you should choose what best works for you. I left 34 years ago because of my career. However, I still love the area. I live in Reno and love it because of the beauty and mild 4 seasons plus my kids are here now. I really enjoy visiting especially Lake Michigan.
