After disassembly the cost now is at $5000 and this is the final number that Geico agreed with. You guys are good.
One complication is that our insurance company wants to talk to the other party but he is a recluse and refused to provide name and number. He is in our neighborhood but only kept to himself. He insists that everything is fine and he doesn't care about the little dent on the bumper on his Excursion. He also doesn't want to talk about this anymore.

he's obviously hiding something, further investigation is needed to find out what he's up to

I disagree.
A few years ago when I had an old beat up car I came out of the supermarket and some woman was waiting for me because she scraped the back of my bumper on the side when she was parking.
The bumper already was scratched all over and I wouldn't have notice the difference. I appreciated her honesty and told her not to worry about it. She told me should would pay to have what she did fixed but I wasn't interested in wasting my time to get it fixed since the rest of the bumper was still crap anyway.
If for some reason she wanted me to talk to her insurance company I wouldn't have wanted to either. i had nothing to hide, but why would I waste my time dealing with them?
Since then I bought a new car so yes if someone scratched it I would want them to repair it.
I had a rental get hit when I was at a stop light going back to the airport a few years ago in Vegas. They hit me, damaged the door and knocked the mirror clean off and ran the light before stopping. I had to talk to their insurance company a few times. We even played phone tag a few times. This made sense, but why would this guy who the OP hit parking want to deal with talking to an insurance company over a dent or scratch he didn't care about on his own old car? It makes no sense.
Wow, that seems like way to much money for a that level of damage. My car was rear-ended this year by a big SUV and there was MAJOR damage. Three different estimates were $7,500 to $7,800. I'd bet the Minivan repair is more between $3k and $4k
Hey, recently got myself into pretty much the exact same situation, looks around the same damage and such. How much did this end up costing? Curious as I am trying to pay out of pocket

And that was three years ago before the run up in prices since 2020.
Ooopsie, good catch!
