US Airlines orders—deliveries
Southwest Airlines 280—34 (largest number of deliveries to any airline around the world)
American Airlines 100—22 (second largest number of deliveries to any airline around the world)
United Airlines 136—12
Alaska Airlines 32—0
Air Canada 61—20 (third largest number of deliveries to any airline around the world)
Southwest has been my favorite domestic airlines, but maybe I should fly Delta more.

Hopefully the flaw will be found out, otherwise, the future of Southwest isn't very bright.

OK, flt delayed another 40 min (had to change a tire).

Currently 737-MAX8 made it to 36,000ft and at the moment... 20 min into flight, So I am now 80+% confident to make it home !!! +/-... Insurance payout would have been good for my charitable trust, and saved a lot of imminent aging issues. I will likely have 4 more flights this week on 737 Max8 (if they keep them in service).

I do wonder ???
ET 302 - 28 YO pilot with 8,000 hrs seems like a stretch.
1200 - 1500 hrs / yr is pretty high hours for commercial pilots (IIRC)

so... age 28 @8,000 hrs = MAXED out hours since age ~22. That is pretty aggressive, tho possible.

I don't think I will be buying any Boeing stock for awhile.

I am not concerned about SWA -MAX8 inventory (on hand). 34 of 754 can be worked around. Tho... not sure which aircraft is certified for HI.

I trust my SWA pilots to make the best choice, but know they too are under pressure to fly whatever is assigned to them. (I get the same treatment as a CDL driver. Sometimes not too comfortable with my rig. But... it's my job to operate it responsibly. That will be a stretch when we have autonomous navigation (as do pilots). There are 'seasons' of careers. Mine is closing soon. (for various reasons).

Mohammed Nur Mohammed, First Officer of Boeing 737 MAX 8, is an Ethiopian Airlines staff member. He had more than 200 flight hours.

200 hrs is <2 months,

Captain 'senior staff' age 28 with 8000hrs

That is a lot of responsibility to drop in the lap of these two pilots (apparently quite young pilots)
Stuff goes wrong, you best have some rabbits (seat-experience) to pull out of your hat. (ie, I hope I have previous military career pilot in one of those 2 seats) Getting far less frequent. But I know several ex-miltary pilots who are now commercial, and appreciate their education / experience via crisis management and engagement. You don't get that level training (or situational risk) from commercial schools and training. Not that there are not excellent pilots from each, there is a certain advantage to pulling yourself and companions out of many risky situations. + the discipline of training and military work detail duties.

I do not like the 800's in SWA fleet. Poor Wifi connection + Bash you head on 'lid-down' bins if you are over 5'-5" tall.

RE: the crash(es)

Yes Houston, Boeing has a problem.

Instructions to correct (MCAS) are very counter intuitive, which bodes poorly for young / inexperienced / international pilots, and certainly not good for seasoned pilots either. Very little margin on 'climb-out' (Heavy weight, low altitude, low speed, lots happening)

In each crash weather was not a problem, and each were in cool / calm morning conditions.

If I were king... I would GROUND them (800's). And insist a more conventional CAP be implemented. (that won't be easy!, but seldom are critical needs easy.)
The 737-800 is not the same plane as the 737-8MAX. Two different planes. The 737-8MAX is the one with MCAS.

My guess they will be grounded for a while, earlier 737 used. Everybody has to know Boeing will be maxing out the response on this and it should be solved rather quickly, the new orange boxes monitor everything........

Ethiopian Airlines are the biggest Airline of Africa. They are what Emirates is in Asia.

They got around 19 of Dreamliners too. They suffered when they were grounded few years back. Now this 737-MAX accident has taken a heavy toll on their reputation.

Two problems.....1. What is causing bad data to start process. 2. Pilot response has to be almost automatic low to the ground, no time to circle and trouble shoot.

Typically that little yellow autopilot disconnect throws planes into manual pilot ops. You can imagine the guys who didn't get the memo and have no idea that MCAS system is still running in the background with a 3,000lb hydraulic pump behind it pushing the nose over after autopilot unhook. I guarantee their brains were fried if this is the scenario. Airbus and Boeing have had differing philosophies when it all hits the fan. Airbus has typically given major control over to computers, Boeing the majority back to pilots. Apparently Boeing has hedged on this plane, and we shall know much more shortly.
