Glass Church / Wayfarers Chapel

The Glass Church or Wayfarers Chapel is located at Palos Verdes Drive South in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. As the name suggests this chapel is made entirely from glass and was built in 1951. It was dedicated as a memorial to Emanuel Swedenborg, an 18t century theologian and scientist. Various features have been added since then such as the Hallelujah Tower, Reflection Pool and the Visitor Center.

The chapel and gardens are open to the public every day from 8am to 5pm and the Visitor Center from 10am to 5pm. The three and a half acre chapel site offers great views of the Pacific Ocean beyond the redwood trees. Anyone is welcome to join in the services here including the Sunday service at 10am with communion held every first Sunday of the month.

The Visitor Center has various displays about the life of Emanuel Swedenborg as well as information about the architectural and botanical design of the chapel site. A gift shop enables visitors to purchase books and pamphlets about prayers, meditation, healing, inspiration and relationships. Group tours of the chapel and gardens as well as for concerts can be booked here at the Visitor Center.
