Avo Playhouse

The Avo Playhouse is an Art Deco building in downtown Vista which can seat up to 382 people for many different types of events, from corporate meetings to full Broadway productions.

The theatre is fully equipped with lighting and sound systems, an elevated stage and back stage dressing rooms with restrooms. There is also a concession bar and large restrooms in the lobby.

The playhouse was built in 1948 as a neighborhood movie house; it was purchased by the City of Vista and restored to accommodate live performances in 1995. Over 40,000 people visit the playhouse each year to view performances by several dance companies and children's theatre groups who use the playhouse for their productions, along with musicals which are produced by Moonlight Stage Productions.

Moonlight Stage Productions are an award-winning regional theatre company. During the summer months in the amphitheatre of the playhouse they host Broadway musicals under the stars. Together playhouse and Moonlight aim to produce the highest quality theatre and provide educational and cultural opportunities.

Rental rates for the playhouse are available on an hourly basis, and rentals include a facilities supervisor and access to all equipment and theatrical spaces. Technical staff and ticketing services are also available or rent
