Northwoods

The wind is softly blowing
all around my house,
not a creature is stirring
not even the proverbial mouse.

The door is ajar as the sound
of rustling leaves comes in
the curtains gently sway
and dance softly with the wind.

The clocks ticks in rhythm
sending minutes on their way.
Ah, nightime, sleepytime
now's not the time for play.

Soon the moon will rise
over the far rise and hill.
Bringing shadows around,
of creatures standing so still.

Leaves underfoot soon crunch
from the footsteps so light.
Rustling and moving around
ever so slowly, ever so slight.

The door will soon be closed
as I make my way to bed.
No longer joining the sounds
or sights, I must sleep instead.

Doing anything to help y'all keep your thread open...I do enjoy everyone's posts.

Just wanted to share another kind of creativity with you. My youngest daughter is a Graphic Designer by trade. She gives her talent to various charities, which makes me proud. One of those charities is an Animal Shelter. Just recently she designed and donated the logo for their yearly charity event "Whisker Walk" I wanted to share that logo with you. It will be used on all of their T-shirts etc. for the event.

Okay, here is a selfportriat I did a few years ago. The line drawing is filled with words that I think describe me or have something to do with my life.
Unfortunately, don't know how to make it bigger or clearer!!

Together

Old age too soon reminds us of the
precious time we have spent
together

The sorrow, joys and laughter all
memories of our past
together

We hold hands, smile and caress
a touch we now firmly share
together

No longer sweet youth reminders
gentle looks will remain
together

A walk during sunset so slow
each step on the path
together

We sleep apart each night now
dreams are what keeps us
together

One of us needs the care the
other gives freely to stay
together

Time will come swiftly enough
to tear the hearts apart
no longer
together

Joe, there's so many folks from up north that have moved down to the south that I doubt you'll have much of a problem finding typical NY-style pizza, bagels, etc...I know there are a few places here in my metro that are run by ex-NYers with authentic food so it's really not an anomaly down here!
