So, I'm headed out tomorrow for williston for the third time. Hoping that things might be picking up again this year a little more than last year. Oil was in the 50's last year. Now its in the 70's. I'll be looking to get back into oil, but want to be outdoors more so. Last year I worked indoors as a hand inspecting pipe. It was alright, worked hard and moved to better positions and all but it did not work out. Couple reasons I won't go into. Still I'm excited to go back. I have nearly a year of experience now which I know will help secure a good job.
If you have any suggestions I'd be happy to hear em. Take care everybody.

It’s busy but not like it used to be (thankfully), you shouldn’t have an issue finding a job or place to live. Good luck and welcome back!

Good luck I remember I attempted to move there back in 2013 and ended up having to return to the east coast with literally no money in the bank. This was because of bad luck though and I was young and irresponsible at the time.

I am here now, and it is definitely picking up, but in a good way. Lots of sign on bonuses, some have free housing and most are paying well.

Thought I’d better check back in. Thanks for the replies. So I bet you wanna hear the juicy stuff huh? I’ll start with this. Someone could do another tv show out here that’s for sure. It could be called days of our lives (the oil patch). It’s pretty wild. Some interesting peeps that’s for sure. Some cool some not so much. I’ve had free housing out here, that’s awesome. My weekly pay checks are gettin better. The cold is starting to creep in. I’m happy bout that though, gonna ice fish every day of my two weeks off every month. Working as a flow hand. Pretty cool stuff. Any thoughts, ideas, throw em out, it will be nice to hear from ya. Peace

Ray

Yeah I will never forget the people in North Dakota some were very strange to say the least but most are very friendly/ social and seem to be more open then in other parts of the country. I think that is because a lot of people are from out of state so are more open to conversation and meeting new people.

How rough is it? Would I be a bad mom for trying to get my son over there? He's in his mid 20's, half way through school and has been living with his dad who spoils him rotten. He's got a bit of "afluenza", but he's also always broke. A good intelligent kid, growing up a lot and finds himself in a bit of a "what the F have I been doing these past few years" moment. Thinking of joining the army but says he's knows he's too lazy. He needs something to kick his boody! Lol!

O its not so bad. Lots of young people in williston for sure. You either have good luck or bad luck with jobs. Alot of complainers out there. You gotta suck it up and put your head down n keep busy. Lots of hazing from co workers. But if you get along then its good. But you also got stuck up guys that think they are the sh t. These are the guys that start drama. By just being asses. I myself hate that. I don't mess around and play there games. THere are other places to work. All this talk about growing thick skin. I don't even know what that means. Does it mean that you should be ok with your boss calling you a bi ch and other degrading stuff? Well thanks but no thanks i'll keep my thin skin. lol.

I always felt the same way. Theres always some poking fun by co workers which you shouldnt let upset you. But sometimes theres the guy in charge treating everyone like crap and apparently taking it is the "tough" thing to do.

That doesn't make you bad. The hours are long and your coworkers won't be happy if you're not pulling your share. If he's lazy I'm not sure how long he will last but I guess its worth a try. If you're forcing him to go he might just quit or get fired.
