Hello all, new here, stumbled upon it doing some research and yall seem pretty active and informative so I'm gonna shoot my shot.

Anyways, currently living in Florida, grew up in MI but looking outside the box to really go and call my home. And I've decided SD might be it. I have a trip planned in early June to come check it out and get an initial feel. I already know the climate is crazy and the feeling is small town across the board and I'm more than alright with that.

The two main questions I have is as an EMT that has experience on the road and in a trauma center for 5+ years, how's the job market like over there? Couldn't find too much.

And how is the housing like? Both purchasing and rent wise (at least initially). Anyways, any reply I will greatly appreciate and I hope to see yall soon!

And if anyone could recommend a good place to eat or explore in Sioux falls I'll take any and all intl consideration. Thank you!

You may be able to find work in the Sanford Health system if you have experience working in this field. There are many other entry-level type jobs available.

Like everywhere else, housing prices are increasing. Would recommend renting for at least six months first, before being committed to buying a place.

Definitely check out Falls Park on your trip. It has several waterfalls in a park located at the Big Sioux River near downtown.

Depends on where you move from.

I was born and raised in Sioux Falls but spent my entire adult life on the West Coast. Fifty years after leaving, I moved back to a small town outside of Sioux Falls. Housing is so much more expensive on the coast that, just using the profit on the sale of my house there, I was able to pay cash for a slightly newer, bigger house on a bigger lot. Granted, it's a podunk farmer town of just over a thousand people, but it's clean, quiet and safe. I like clean, quiet and safe.

And the amenities of Sioux Falls are just a 25 minute drive away.
