We lived in Santee for 16 years and I remember vividly having to deice my windshield every day for over a month. Other than that, though, the climate is pretty good.

It's "perfect" maybe in the temperature, but the idea that it is consistently sunny here is wildly inaccurate*, which is why I cringe at "sunshine tax" (people typically don't use this expression in other parts of southern CA that have identical weather and are also expensive).

It does get boring, which is why almost all of my vacations are to cold weather cities or the PNW.

It's seven degrees where I am at right now. How on Earth can sunset cliffs get boring even if it's overcast and 50 degrees? I am chomping at the bit to vacation in Pt. Loma in a few more weeks, I HOPE it's as warm as 60, even 50, bike every day along the Pacific, how do you beat that?

Today is spectacular, definitely going to break 60f. Weekend will have heavier rain, 50s, then upper 60s by late next week. I think it's perfect as far as it's winter, it's not too cold, but it's also not too warm. It's like fall in most places, and there is no winter

Do it every day for a couple of years, then get back to us. Don't get me wrong, it's nice, nothing wrong with the ocean. But it eventually starts to feel like groundhog day.

According to my thermometer in my car it was actually 68F around where I am - almost to the point of needing ac in the car but not quite. I don't like how the temps dip at night - I find 50F way too cold so I really felt it when the night time temps dipped close to freezing recently. One good thing about the rain is that it lifts the night time temps.

Even in winter the days are mild but I feel the cold once the sun goes down.

Human beings are programmed biologically to find reasons to be unhappy and stressed. Need to keep that fight or flight reflex sharp! We've seen it here....people convince themselves that San Diego isn't even that great because they lose or never had a proper frame of reference.

What I mean by boring is the lack of variation in the weather, i.e. no real seasons. Cold can be unpleasant but it can also be invigorating and knocks you out of your comfort zone. You have to live here for a while to get to that point though.

Think "The Truman Show" of climate.

I sometimes wake up to 50 or 40 degree temperatures. Does that count, FriscoKid?
