I lived in Chino Hills for 8 years and preferred it to Rancho Cucamonga (I worked in Ontario.) I didn't really like how Rancho Cucamonga felt like housing tracts crammed in-between shopping malls. Sort of like a concrete jungle. It is one of the 'better' parts of the IE in terms being fairly safe and having nice shopping, dining etc. That's only when you grade it on the 'IE curve.'

Rancho Cucamonga is a great place to live. Rancho has and will continue to attract wealthy families to call it home. All of Rancho is nice, there is no yucky or ghetto area. Some areas are more ”normal” aka middle class, but there are many neighborhoods filled with upper-middle and upper class families. Typically the further north you go, the better, but it is all relatively safe and desirable.

Rancho Cucamonga is less hot these days. The hot buzz for IE today is new homes next to the UC Riverside campus, like Spring Mountain Ranch community by KB Home, or gentrify Highgrove, CA area with new homes or businesses to replace old warehouses.

I've never lived in Rancho, but i've visited friends there and I really like how safe it is and the awesome views of the mountains nearby.

I also like how it's not too far from L.A,The Coast,Palm Springs, and San Diego is not too far away either.
