They are actually blaming the weather. Scenes from the search location do look pretty bad - zero visibility, remote, mountains.

Figureheads in both situations, no impact on those running the government.

Of course they can blame it on Israel, but Israel would not be stupid enough to attack the red cape the bullfighter is waving around. They would hit the bullfighter.
Indeed-

Which Ayatollah are we on now?

This won’t change Iranian policy one Ayatollah (iota).

If Raisi is dead, the world is now a safer & better place," Rick Scott, a Republican from Florida said on X.

"If he’s gone, I truly hope the Iranian people have the chance to take their country back from murderous dictators," he added.

Do our politicians have any idea how things work in an authoritarian government? His death is not going to help regular Iranians overthrow their government.

It's possible he's dead. I thought at first it was just a "hard landing." But my military friends (US Army) always described helicopters as "flying rocks."

Thanks for the update.

Is Iran even making a sincere effort to locate their president who crashed in the mountains? Maybe with Russia and the other involved countries offering rescue units, they will find the helicopter.

If the Russians are involved, I think it's more than just search and rescue. Foul play investigation of some sorts will likely play a part.

It’s impossible for the truth to even exist in a country like
Iran. There is all sorts of internal tension inside of a theocratic dictatorship like that. It could be accidental or weather related but then again it is Iran. It’s definitely possible it’s a politically motivated event.

State news agency IRNA said Raisi was flying in a U.S.-made Bell 212 helicopter.

I guess his "Death to America" chant didn't include helicopters. Oh, the irony.
