So all of the people needing to go left to return rental cars or park, get stuck in traffic from all the people trying to go through the terminal. They need to have traffic control at the terminal to keep people moving and write tickets immediately if they don’t.
A big part of the problem is that the airport moved the cell phone waiting lot four miles away, so instead of waiting to pick up passengers at the far-flung cell lot, many are just circling the airport until their passengers are ready to be picked up (and I'm not sure that I blame them) which of course increases the car traffic at BNA. BNA really screwed up on that one. So to help, they're going to start offering free short-term parking for 30 minutes which, hopefully, will encourage people to wait in the parking garage instead of continuously driving around in circles.

Agree the relocation of the cell phone lot completely lacked forethought. I wasn't overly excited with the free garage parking announcement, since as N.Cal mentioned, just getting there requires waiting in the same traffic backup. Perhaps it'll slowly reduce the circlers and remedy the issue. Time will tell.

I sure miss the old divey BNA that was full of character, carpet, and just felt distinctively Nashville. Coming home felt easy and like a big hug. Now it feels overly sterilized, corporate, and forced into some kind of vibe that just isn't us. The perfect metaphor of what Nashville is becoming.

The issue with the free parking is that it takes spaces from those of us who actually use the parking when we fly.

Canada's WestJet is adding service to Winnipeg from Nashville. This will be WestJet's 5th Canadian destination out of BNA: Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.

In addition, Southwest is adding service to Greenville SC and Richmond VA. This will bring the number of nonstop destinations that SW serves out of Nashville to 75.
