I've created a diffusion-based neural net generative assistant that makes creating new melodies much easier, even for non-musicians like me. These are meant to be just the catchy "hook" parts of songs, so more work is required to make them into full songs, but this is already handled well by existing products (e.g. there are plugins that can suggest a few possible chord progressions based on the melody and there is even good singing software that I used without any tweaks to make the "voice" playlist: Synthesizer V Studio).
Listened to some more. It is a start. Wonder about layering, sequencing tracks and rearranging for extensions and possibly changes in time signatures. The byte sized melodies would probably need to grow to 3 plus minute chains with more complexity to constitute a full track. Lyrics aren't always needed but then the music has to be even more compelling.
Not sure about how to mix but if anybody is a digital DJ, might be a fun challenge to see what you could create with pieces, probably with some outside elements & flourishes. Or offer your own new melodic pieces or assemblies.
