Jackson needs to the new state Capitol Police to expand across all of Northeast Jackson (preferably the entire city but Northeast Jackson at bare minimum), so that tourists and business people can come to Jackson with certainty that they will be going to areas that have Madison and Flowood levels of safety.

They can't do that - that's what JPD is for. Not to mention it would be very discriminatory.

The CCID is meant to protect the governmental, business and educational sector of Jackson - which in turns gives you what you need - a safe district. But that can't be extended to select residential areas.

I would think the legislature could approve an expansion of the capitol police. I favor expanding it across the entire city. But if some parts of the city want it and some don't then I favor expanding it to the areas that want the help.

Also they must consider impact on economic development, hence expanding it to areas where economic development is most likely to occur. I don't think legislators have any idea just how detrimental Jackson's crime is to the entire state, due to the reputation not only for crime but also reputation for poor governance that the crime rate gives the entire state.

And business people coming into the city must be protected, because people who invest in Mississippi from all over the state are likely to come into Jackson on a regular basis. If those people aren't protected, economic development will suffer across Mississippi.
