Went driving around after the storm here near Bridgeland and saw the transmission towers toppled over. Hopefully they can reroute the power or run some temporary ground level lines because with all that damage I would imagine it will take a very long time to fix.

I drove through the Heights this afternoon thinking I would grab a bite to eat. WRONG. It very much looked like the aftermath of a hurricane…traffic lights were out, trees uprooted and fallen, lights still out in many places, all the restaurants were closed. That was one powerful storm.

This is a bad, bad news....
Two week fix turned out to be weeks. And temperatures are rising, even at night there is not much relief.

No power here in the Jersey Village area. Some homes in our neighborhood got damage; our house was thankfully perfectly fine. Hopefully they can get power restored soon! Gonna get hot quick.

Weeks for every single person to get their power. The majority of those who haven’t got their power back will likely get it back within a few days.

Not to dismiss the intensity of the news but this is an important clarifying to avoid fear mongering.

Two weeks!!! While the temps will be above 90F!
The HEB near my GF's place (HEB at Hwy 6 and Keith Harrow...77084 zip) was open last night (must have been using a generator). The guy in front of me in line was buying only tons of candles. His connected friend (Centerpoint ?) told him a tower was down and it would be 4-5 days minimum.

Here is a handy list what’s open and what’s closed in Houston after the storms. Several Houston chefs are providing hot meals to those in need as the city recovers from the storm. And most of the food is free

I’m not taking any potential free food from someone who may actually need it.

Very noble, but maybe some other of our members or people they know are in such needs. Power down, spoiled grocery in the fridge and not enough money to go shopping, again. Or nearby grocery stores closed.

It looks like the power is getting restored pretty quickly:

Per CenterPoint:
- The company’s Outage Tracker went down because 700,000 people an hour were using it
- All transmission towers have been repaired and new lines will be relaid Wednesday
- The last repairs are in heavily damaged areas and are taking more time
- Just about everyone should have power back up by the end of the day Wednesday
- 5,000 or so crews came from out of the city and state to help with repairs

Some good questions were asked here:
