After a two year absence which coincided with my mistake of a two year marriage, I'm back. Kind of got busy and forgot about this forum but ran across it again while doing a search for something on Google and though, Oh yea, I remember that forum being pretty fun. Though it looks like things have slowed way down.

So been playing a lot of fiddle with friends around the area. Canoed the Yukon from Eagle to Circle for the 4th time this last summer. I adopted my soon to be ex's 10 year old grandson. My daughter got married to a nice young man. Hmm, that's about it for highlights of the last two years. What have you all been up to?

It seems like Reddit and Facebook groups is where all the action is now for both Alaska living topics and visiting Alaska.

Definitely more action at both of those places, but for some reason I feel a greater sense of community here. Maybe because there are fewer of us and most of us have been here for a while, you start feeling like you know people to some degree, which I think leads to more respectful exchanges for the most part, or something like that? I mean, we definitely get some wingnut troll remarks, but it's mostly drive-bys, not locals.

FB is so full of garbage humans I mostly avoid anymore. I'm a little more active on Reddit. The Fairbanks & Alaska subs are well moderated and pretty friendly.

Lots of people here, just not to much to talk about.

Not much for reddit but didn't know it had an active Alaska sub.

Yep, also, I know a few of you personally and definitely have known more of you online for years.

Hi there! Sorry about your marriage. At least you tried to embrace love. You know for all the talk about Facebook and all the groups…City Data was a lot of fun back then. Facebook is more superficial, and it’s hard to maintain people’s interest in groups, as you know. I’m excited to actually “chat” with you here. I was checking out the tv forum to see if there was a good thread on the new Dexter, and just thought I’d pop in here.
