It’s the appraisal protest season again. This is an article about what’s happening in DCAD:

We had an almost $100K increase and 75% of that was land. So, we don't have much leeway to protest anything this year.

BTW, we know the owners of one of the houses called out in this article. They weren't thrilled about being mentioned publicly like that.

Overall up significantly. But structure went down and land went up so not much to protest. With homestead and capped limits, the impact to year over year tax burden is within what I already plan on year over year.

Understand that someone may feel weird about seeing their specific address being listed. But at the same time, anyone's home value is pretty easy to determine from publicly available information. Same with property tax history, owner history etc.

Our market value went down, 6-7% or so, but there was a huge increase last year so the property taxes will still be catching up

Anyone can go look at the house on the appraisal district website and look at it... AND see their name, which I didn't see in the linked article.

Well, we're having an invasion. They're not making any more land inside LBJ. Not hard to understand, is it?

Pretty much seeing what the article discusses. Largest increase I have ever received on an appraisal.

We had our appraisal increase by just under $200k! Does anyone know if DCAD has any knowledge of off-market sales? All home sales in our neighborhood, this calendar year, have been off-market, so I’m surprised.

We know that. It's still weird to see your house mentioned out of all the many, many houses in the county.

I'm in Collin County. The appraised value barely nudged at all, in line with the market. The neighborhood looks like garbage, so I may still protest. I'm not sure how much consideration they give to an unkempt neighborhood, though.
