I missed the awesome once in a blue moon northern lights activity in Connecticut on Friday and Saturday nights. The pictures that people took are truly mesmerizing.

Looks like northern lights are happening again tonight (Sunday May 12th).

Anyone know of any viewing groups or meetups in the Stamford or surrounding areas?

Not sure about meetups but it is cloudy so not sure you should waste your time in CT. What a shame

Severe to extreme geomagnetic happens and we're cloudy. A G5 rating is considered "extreme" and the strongest level of solar storm. Aurora outbreaks will continue across the United States.

It's the first time in decades I believe. We would be seeing vivid colors if it wasnt for the clouds.

Find an open space with no street lights. Maybe a field somewhere like Scalzi Park or Waveny in NC.
Good luck

Yep. Turkey Hill and Eisenhower Park nearby were good.

I didn’t notice this thread prior to creating another thread which now is redundant.

The irony with Scalzi Park is that for many weeks many of the street lights surrounding the circle were off for whatever reason, but that also increased the darkness. I went to Scalzi Park in a recent night and the street lights that were off are now on (except for one near the US flag pole that appears need the actual light bulb changed.) When you most want less light is when there is more! lol
