Good points. I'll add that Canadian golf courses are measured in yards; Canadian horse racing is conducted in miles, furlongs, and yards, and the jockeys are measured in pounds; and Canadian railways measure distance from and to divisional points in miles.
And it's true: Calgary is two hours up the road, Regina is six hours away, and Great Falls MT is three hours south of here. Edmonton is five hours north. Distances in a unit of measurement? Damned if I know. We just use times to the objective.
