Tyson said he'll pull in about $20M for the fight.
Still one of the most feared and admired heavyweights of all time. On the other hand, he retired at age 38, having lost 3 of his last 4 fights by KO or corner retirement. And now he's 57. He looks pretty jacked for a 57yo, but I don't think he can just roll the clock back 20+ years. Fortunately for him, Jake Paul isn't a prime Evander Holyfield or Lennox Lewis kind of opponent.
It's definitely a cash grab, it doesn't have any meaning in the sense of the competition for a championship belt. It's just two big names with a lot of buzz around them.
If this isn't just a sparring session Tyson will get beat like a rented mule. He was amazing for a while but was a one trick pony. As soon as that went away he got beat easily. As someone who has had over 100 boxing matches this is a joke at best. I loved when the old timers came to the gym and wanted to spar. Yes back in the day they would kick some butt but once you lose your speed you become a punching bag for the younger guy. At 54 now I hate that some decent 20 something can now beat me in the ring. Especially when I would have easily beat them when I was their age.
Tyson was KOed by Buster Douglas 1990,
Tyson was TKOed by Holyfield 1996,
Tyson was DQed by Holyfield 1997,
Tyson was KOed by Lennox Lewis 2002,
Tyson was KOed by Danny Williams 2004,
Tyson was TKOed by Kevin McBride 2005.
All sorts of stories on the rules. It may be an exhibition maybe not. Head gear, lighter gloves and fighters take medical test before the date etc.
If they are concerned about the health risk why are they not going to have a referee?
They say the winner only wins when he knocks the other out. Without a referee to count to ten down and out, then what prevents this "having been knocked out or down" fighter from being unconscious?
A fighter can be knocked down and the referee can evaluate his condition and whether the bout should be stopped.
To say it goes on until one fighter is knocked "totally out and possibly unconscious" is troubling

Mike, you owe me for a double Jack with a splash of coke that ordered during the Spinx that was landed on the bar just as i turned to the guy sittig next to me to say "what the uck is Spinx doing" going straight into Tyson to do a close in slug fess, and just as I turned and before I could ask my question the freaking fight was over and Spinx was out on the canvas.
Unlike on TV the fight was over, no replay no instant analysis just a blank screen! Geez!
That's the Tyson I remember and while that was a hell of a long time ago... he's looking damned good!
