If they would implement policies that would keep the price of housing sane in First World countries they wouldn't have this problem of birth rates falling off a cliff. They continue to do nothing restrict single family home construction because of this idea of being green means living in cramped apartments or a continuing to allow the rich to buy up all the housing as an investment what do they expect is going to happen for people to raise families they want to live in single family houses.

Right now home prices are the highest inflation adjusted when factoring in mortgage rates in the history of this country. A lot of this is still the fall out of the covid policies which like many of us predicted and were ridiculed and silenced for saying the treatment was worse than the illness. I don't hear any of the so called experts who messed up this economy apologizing or seeing them losing their jobs either they all continue to run things and we're supposed to trust them to make good decisions going forward.

We keep rewarding irresponsible behavior in society and we keep allowing bad management to stay in charge. I didn't even realize this was posted in the Africa forum I apologize if the content of this post is too political in nature you can always remove it if you deem necessary.

This whole hand out bailout mentality goes contrary to basic natural selection.

Humans like to act on their emotions and compassion is a nice thing to have but excess compassion or compassion applied incorrectly can end up backfiring. It pays to think things through using your prefrontal cortex and make logical choices rather than just going blindly forward based on how you feel. Of course, evolution means people aren't necessarily going to do this because it's very difficult.

Well, the average number of children per family of Niger, the world's highest, has declined from 9 down to 6.

The average of Mexico has declined from 8 down to 3.

Brazil is similar, due to providing free birth control, combined with the popularity there of soap-operas showing the glamorous life of childless people.

Overall, the middle-east, South Asian countries, and Africa have a long ways to go. Womens education and empowerment through micro-business loans through the Grameen Bank system, helps a lot in changing attitudes.
