  • Description:
  • Education out of the Box Solid Rock Community School is a Florida not-for-profit College Preparatory Private School recognized by the Florida Department of Education. We are Nationally accredited by the Florida Coalition of Christian Private Schools and the National Association of Private Schools. We have two campuses one for K-6 and the other for 7-12. We also have our own virtual school and operate as a homeschool umbrella. We offer quality education to students in grades K-12. Our small class sizes and low student to teacher ratio allows each student to get the attention they deserve as well as allowing them to excel. The classrooms are skill based, mastery based and multi-modular which are designed to cater to each child's level and pace, not to a grade level expectation. Our staff are able to teach SLD, gifted and regular children with equal success. At Solid Rock Community School, we recognize that each child has different needs to be addressed and different qualities and strengths they naturally possess. Therefore, we do not believe there is only one way to educate a child. Through kinesthetic learning, reading, writing, and aural and verbal communication, we develop a school year which best accommodates the needs of the student. Our school year begins and ends on or near the same dates as Pinellas County public schools but that is where the similarities to public school schedules stop. We offer six five week sessions with a full week off in between them. That week is used for review either at home or at school if extra help is needed. Our staff uses that week for planning and or training, enabling our children to still met the 180 days of school. Each child attends five separate classes Monday threw Thursday and on Fridays we offer two 2 1/2 hour workshops based on specific themes. Example experiences are The Arts, Cultural, Mass Media, Public Service, Community Service, Florida, Wilderness and Adventure and most of these are done off campus. The last Friday we have a combined campus school wide celebration which includes lots of team building experiences. Our goal is to build and nurture community minded children. SRCS students graduate prepared to succeed in college, career, and life.
