12/20/2013 | Inspection | Using a DPD chlorine test kit, there was no detectable free chlorine residual in train car #512 kitchen 3 bay sink cold water tap. Ran water for several minutes and checked twice. Received a 0.2mg/L free chlorine residual at the train station men's restroom sink cold water tap. In discussion with maintenance, the holding tanks were just filled approximately 20 minutes ago using the City of Saratoga Springs water supply. Issued a Boil Water Order for the entire train and instructed operator to post Boil Water Notices in all restrooms aboard the train. Boil Water Order must remain in effect until the following has been completed: 1. Flush and disinfect all holding tanks. 2. Reestablish a detectable free chlorine residual. 3. Collect a total coliform sample and a heterotrophic plate count sample and submit a copy of the results to the Glens Falls District Office. Operator is currently using ""Aquacheck Pool & Spa Test Strips"" to evaluate the free chlorine residual. Must purchase a DPD chlorine test kit and use DPD-1 tablets/powder/drops. The current test strips being used are not allowed. Must correct all violations no later than January 4, 2014. Must send Corey DiLorenzo an email to crd05@health.state.ny.us addressing corrective actions taken to all cited violations no later than 1/4/14. |
