Description: When a small hardware store in Grover City (located in the building to the immediat west of the present Grover Beach Store) came up for sale, the brothers were able to purchase the business for their young families out of Los Angeles. For the next several years both Lee and Glenn (and their first employee Wally Lewis) worked tirelessly to build the business. 70 hour weeks were the norm and profits contiually reinvested into the business to fund expansion. In 1964 Glenn purchased Lee's share of the business and managed the store with the help of Wally Lewis. In 1972 Miner's joined Ace Hardware, a buying co-op owned entirely by independent dealers. In 1982 Mike Miner, Lee's oldest son, was named President of Miner's Ace Hardware. The ensuing years saw significant change: the Grover Beach Store has quadrupled it's size, Arroyo Grande opened in 1986, Morro Bay opened in 1997, Los Osos opened in 2000, Atascadero opened in 2002, Nipomo opened in 2009, and San Luis Obispo opened in 2010.

Description: DeCou Lumber Company was originally part of the Homer T. Hayward Lumber Company Chain. The yard was purchased from the Hayward chain in 1937 by Ralph Hagle Sr. and Jerry W. DeCou Jr. forming the partnership of Hagle-DeCou Lumber Company. Ralph Hagle Sr. passed away in 1972, and Jerry III purchased the Hagle stock from the Hagle estate in 1973. The name Hagle-DeCou Lumber Company was changed to DeCou Lumber Company in 1974. In 1937 the office and sales floor consisted of a 16x16 building on the south-west corner of the property where the pole barn sits now. The big expansion can in 1957 when the 30x60 office and the 60x80 warehouse were built. The outside yard area was expanded at the same time. The next addition was the enlarging of the office and sales floor from 30x60 to 60x84 which was done in 1967.The Company does have plans to keep expanding with the town and its needs. Additional expansions depend totally on the commitment of DeCou Lumber Company to serve the needs
