Description: If you think of a library as a place where the noise level never rises above a whisper, you’re in for a surprise. At the regional library, the fall through spring evening concert series is crammed full of entertaining sounds. Although the lineup varies, you can count on a diverse array of performers: In its Dewey Decibel Concert Series, music runs the gamut from folk, bluegrass, and country to traditional and jazz. Past performances have included Robin and Linda Williams, Tommy Emmanuel, and Stephen Bennett, as well as a free concert by the Langley Winds (a woodwind quintet from the U.S. Air Force’s Heritage of America Band). And if you’re wondering about the seating arrangements and acoustics, we’re happy to inform you that the regional library has a full 266-seat theater complete with stage lights and an excellent sound system. The Daily Press named the theater “Best Small Venue” in its Musical Achievement Awards. Concert dates vary, but most start at 8 p.m. Some concerts are free, but for the most part ticket prices are $15 or less and usually half-price for those younger than 16. Call ahead to have tickets held at the door. Tickets can be reserved as far as two months in advance with advance payment either by telephone with a credit card or in person with cash, check, or credit card.
