Description: Conveniently located just steps from the eastern end of the Historic Area, this Georgian brick house was built during the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg and occupies more than a half-acre of a former peanut plantation that extended the length of what is now Capitol Landing Road. Nearby, 13 of Blackbeard’s pirates were hanged. Today’s visitors receive a much more cordial welcome than the pirates did. Hosts Sue and Dick Lake are happy to tailor a touring itinerary to help you make the best use of your time. Shuttered windows, brass candlelight lanterns, and a fireplace are featured in one room with a waist-high, four-poster king-size bed. Another room offers a private screened porch, four-poster colonial-style canopy bed, gingham, country florals, and pastels against a background of family antiques. Private baths adjoin the rooms, which are air-conditioned.One guest room can be combined with the adjacent room to turn the entire second floor into a suite for two couples traveling together. It offers a queen-size antique-brass bed. The bathroom, done in brass, features a large glass shower enclosure. Governor’s Trace serves breakfast in the rooms and provides cozy robes so guests need not “dress” for breakfast. A leisurely candlelight breakfast in your room might be just the perfect unusual touch to make your stay memorable. This is a nonsmoking accommodation. It offers off-street parking. No pets are allowed.
