Description: This course is as interesting for its owner as for its golf. D. W. Kang is the only combination PGA member/Tae Kwon Do grandmaster in the world. A natural athlete, he took up golf at age 38. And now he owns Clary Fields. If it weren’t such a cliché, this course could be called one of Oklahoma’s best-kept secrets. In a quiet, secluded area of Tulsa—north of the Creek Turnpike and west of US 75, this 5,527-yard, par 71 course provides a peaceful place to enjoy the game. Designed by Trip Davis, the course opened in 1999. The landscape features rolling fairways, undulating greens, mature trees, large bunkers, and water on over half of the holes. Probably the most talked-about hole is the par five No. 4.—the “barn hole.” More than one golfer has left his mark on the red metal barn off the fairway. Hole No. 1 is popular for its sweeping approach. There’s a good pro shop, a grill for sandwiches and snacks, a bar, and a practice facility for driving, pitching, chipping, and putting. Soft spikes and collared shirts are required. Tee times can be reserved a week in advance and are recommended for the weekends. The course closes for tournaments.
