Description: While not exactly downtown, this reasonably priced hotel is close enough—a five-minute drive to the Plaza—to warrant a listing here. On a hilltop immediately north of Paseo de Peralta, which forms a U around the downtown area, the Lodge has sweeping views of the mountains, lovely perennial gardens, and breathtaking sunsets from its rooms as well as its restaurant and bar, Las Mañanitas. Many of the 127 nicely appointed guest rooms and suites have fireplaces and either microwaves and refrigerators or full kitchens and WiFi. Guests enjoy complimentary workouts in the 20,000-square-foot Santa Fe Spa next door or relax poolside in the hotel’s landscaped courtyard. The hotel was bought by Heritage Hotels and Resorts and completely refurbished recently. Its distinctive tower, or torreon, features Ancestral Pueblo-style stonework and is easily visible from the highway. This hotel is most famous locally for its live flamenco shows, which are offered nightly in summer in the small Maria Benitez Theater, named for Santa Fe’s most famous flamenco diva.
