Description: Kids (and parents!) create their own candles at this friendly family-run candle store and studio. Sand-cast candles are poured for you, and then you carve and paint! The sand- and wax-bonded candles are easy to sculpt, and they take paint beautifully for your own bright and unique design. If kids are too young to carve, the owner will carve for them—a pony, perhaps—and then the youngster can paint and decorate it. An extra candle is poured, so if you make a mistake, it’s no big deal—grab the spare and start on that. There’s also a family room with air hockey, TV, beanbags, and Ping-Pong. Candlemaking workshops run several times a week, but if you call in advance, they’ll set up for an individual or family anytime. If you just drop in, they might have candles you can carve, as long as you’re willing to go with whatever shape is on hand. The price code shown is for the under-18s rate, including refreshments.
