Pueblo Harvest Cafe and Bakery - Restaurants - Albuquerque, New Mexico

City: Albuquerque, NM

Telephone: (505) 724-3510

Description: Set inside the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (no admission fee for the restaurant alone), the Pueblo Harvest Cafe and Bakery serves Native-Fusion food, using the traditional cooking techniques and ingredients of New Mexico’s Pueblo peoples. This leads to unique spins on familiar food—such as the Zia Burger, served on Native frybread, or the Ohkay Owingeh Ovenbread Pudding with caramel sauce. The restaurant is set over two floors, spanned by a two-story flagstone fireplace, with views of the Sandia Mountains from the upstairs dining room and balcony. There is also outside seating on the downstairs patio. Request a Spirit Bowl for your table if you want to follow the Pueblo tradition of offering food to ancestral spirits as a mark of respect. Break off a small piece of your meal and breathe on it, then place it in the bowl. The Sunrise over the Sandias breakfast menu is available until 11 a.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends; it includes Zuni Blue Corn Pancakes, cooked on the hot rock and served with piñon butter and sausage, bacon, or ham. Or try Blue Corn Atole with raisins and pecans. The price code reflects the cost of the Chef’s Selection dinner entrées, but lunch and dinner menus are broad and adaptable to most budgets; offerings include salads, pastas, sandwiches, burgers, and vegetarian options. You might plump for a hearty bowl of mutton stew, or try bison short ribs, braised in red wine with ancho chile and plums. Or splash out on the Oop Ka Waan, a 32-ounce rib eye steak for two. Beer and wine are available. Open daily for breakfast and lunch; dinner is served from Monday to Saturday.
