Description: Menaul School was founded on its current site in 1896 by the Reverend James Menaul, a Presbyterian minister and founder of First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque. It educates children from grades 6 to 12, and although it is a faith-based institution rooted in the Christian tradition, students do not have to be either Presbyterian or even Christian to attend. Menaul School offers an ecumenical learning environment and is open to students from all religious backgrounds. Between 225 and 250 students are taught on a peaceful 35-acre collegelike campus in the North Valley. Sports facilities include a soccer field, football fields, tennis courts, and a gymnasium. Class sizes are up to 16 in core courses, with between 6 and 9 students in elective courses. Menaul School prides itself on providing a high-quality college preparatory education to students of racial and economic diversity. Over 60 percent of students are from Hispanic, Native American, or other minority groups.
