Description: This nonprofit, nonsectarian school was founded in 1994 and is set on a 45-acre site along the Rio Grande bosque. It has 545 students in grades 6 through 12, with an average class size of 16 and a 9:1 ratio of students to faculty. The school focuses on a traditional academic education and college preparation, while celebrating diversity and encouraging progressive approaches to learning. The arts curriculum includes visits to local community artists and galleries, and performing arts are core-curriculum activities rather than extracurricular, with all students participating. Students can also get involved in age-appropriate community service projects, including environmental and animal programs. Seventy-five percent of students participate in one or more of Bosque School’s 35 interscholastic teams. A new 15,000-square-foot schoolhouse for the upper school is adding eight new classrooms, a technology center, and a college-guidance suite.
