Description: Easy to spot from I-25 with its vibrant zigzag-design exterior, lit up by red and blue neon at night, Nativo Lodge has a strong Native American theme and stands out as something a little different from the chain hotels. It also feels quite opulent for the price range. The colorful lobby atrium sports Indian rugs hanging against the terra-cotta walls, a huge warrior sculpture, striking chandeliers, giant carved butterflies, and a glass-front elevator. Large circular sofas and canopied seating make it an exotic place to hang out, and there’s a smart lobby lounge bar for cocktails. Nativo Lodge is part of the Heritage Hotels & Resorts group and has 145 guest rooms and 2 suites in five stories. All rooms have balconies or patios. Decor is in warm tones of red, brown, and gold, and the very plush beds feature sueded comforters. Carpets replicate a Navajo chief’s blanket design, and art includes framed dreamcatchers. Bathroom products are by Aveda. Rooms also have a work desk, comfortable chair and free Internet access. The lighting is perfect for a romantic stay. If you’re working, you might find it a little on the low side, but you can take your laptop into the lobby, where there are power sockets and Wi-Fi. Leisure facilities include a spa tub and an indoor/outdoor pool with spa tub, and the pool is surrounded by pleasant lounging areas and an outdoor teepee (kids will love it!). There’s also a fitness center, a business center, and guest laundry facilities. Spirit Wind’s Cafe serves breakfast and dinner (evening opening hours have been known to be unpredictable, so check in advance). Next door is a Starbucks, and there are many restaurants nearby. Smoking rooms are available, and dogs are permitted for a $50 flat fee for up to two weeks.
